Seen by many as 'Aunties Christmas Tipple',  sherry is one of the most underrated, undervalued and misunderstood wines in the world. However, Sherry is becoming increasingly fashionable in the UK thanks to a recent explosion of Tapas bars opening, some high profile help from the likes of Heston Blumenthal (who highly rates their food matching potential), the availability of cheaper flights to Spain and not least of all - the rise in quality and diversity of Sherry available here.

The fabulous fortified wines of sherry have a fascination production process, a long rich history, an historic relationship with Britain (and especially Bristol) and come in a fantastically broad and unique range of flavours and styles - ranging from the driest wines in the world (manzanilla) to one of the sweetest (PX). There has never been a better time to explore sherry in the UK, so come and learn about the many different styles, how and where they are produced, how versatile they are with food plus a little of its fascinating history in a relaxed but educational and informative way.

You’ll learn about sherry’s home, the region of Jerez, situated in a triangle of land formed by the towns of Jerez de la Frontera, Sanlúcar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa María. It’s a place which, over 3000 years, has developed its own distinctive production method harnessing the specifics of it’s location, climate and local grapes to create a myriad of different styles, picking up fans from Shakespeare to Hemmingway along the way.

You'll gain essential information and tips on everything from buying and reading a label to storage and service and how to pair each style successfully with food in a hands-on way, and can rest assured that you'll be part of a small, relaxed and sociable group where questions are very welcome and no previous experience is necessary.
